Thanks, Michael, for these beautiful notes. One thing you forgot to mention as an application for quantum computing is the relation of your diagonalization of quadratic fermion Hamiltonians and the Jordan-Wigner transform to gate sets which are not universal, ala Terhal and Divincenzo’s result.
