According to <a href=\"http:\/\/scholar.google.ca\/scholar?as_q=&#038;num=20&#038;btnG=Search+Scholar&#038;as_epq=&#038;as_oq=&#038;as_eq=&#038;as_occt=any&#038;as_sauthors=&#038;as_publication=&#038;as_ylo=200&#038;as_yhi=&#038;as_allsubj=some&#038;as_subj=phy&#038;hl=en&#038;lr=\">Google Scholar<\/a>, my book with Ike Chuang is one of the ten most cited physics books of all time.  Here&#8217;s Google&#8217;s list (I omit one book, the math text by Kato which has unaccountably escaped into the physics category):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>J. D. Jackson, <em>Classical Electrodynamics<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Benoit Mandelbrot, <em>The Fractal Geometry of Nature<\/em><\/li>\n<li>S. M. Sze, <em>Physics of Semiconductor Devices<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Charles Kittel, <em>Introduction to Solid State Physics<\/em><\/li>\n<li>C. W. Allen, <em>Astrophysical Quantities<\/em><\/li>\n<li>H. S. Carslaw, <em>Introduction to the Mathematical Theory of the Conduction of Heat in Solids<\/em><\/li>\n<li>P. R. Bevington, D. K. Robinson, and G. Bunce, <em>Data Reduction and Error Analysis for the Physical Sciences<\/em><\/li>\n<li>H. Schlichting and K. Gersten, <em>Boundary-Layer Theory<\/em><\/li>\n<li>P. M. Morse and H. Feshbach, <em>Methods of Theoretical Physics<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Michael A. Nielsen and Isaac L. Chuang, <em>Quantum Computation and Quantum Information<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There&#8217;s many caveats.  Google&#8217;s citation coverage is incomplete, they seem to double count some citations, and so on.  And, of course, it&#8217;s not even clear what citation counts <a href=\"http:\/\/backreaction.blogspot.com\/2008\/02\/peer-review-iv.html\">mean<\/a>.
