The tenure contract I was offered last year required me to focus fulltime on theoretical physics; after some extended discussion Perimeter Institute was not willing to support my <a href=\"http:\/\/michaelnielsen.org\/blog\/?p=274\">new creative interests<\/a> as a tenured faculty member.<\/p>\n<p>For the next few months I will be concentrating on finishing my book about the future of science, and exploring my options for the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I resigned my job just over two weeks ago.
