Foolish predictions

Kerry to win by 6% over Bush in the popular vote. No prediction on the Electoral College, other than a Kerry win.

Probably wishful thinking on my part. We’ll see.

I hope to resume more substantive blogging soon. Too many other things happening.

  1. Exit polls misled. Bush has the popular win, and the only open question is whether his lead in Ohio will withstand the counting of provisional ballots. Given his lead there, it probably will.

  2. Hi Eugene — This is off-topic, but I just clicked through to your blog. It’s terrific! I just added a link to my blogroll.

(As a tangent to a tangent, I can’t resist mentioning that Alan Kay, who you mention several times, has been a hero of mine since I was about 12 years old. One of the things I like most about the blogosphere is that it’s given me a look inside the sort of communities that people like yourself, Kay, and many others inhabit.)

  3. Michael, at least you didn’t have to watch/live the train wreck up close and personal. I’m still wearing all black in mourning and am now seriously considering whether to move back to Australia some time in the next year. (Or should I just go straight to Europe?)

  4. David — Yeah, well. Commiserations.

Re leaving the US: I do wonder if we’ll see an exodus of intellectuals from the US over the next few years. Certainly, I don’t see a lot that’s bright on the horizon. I know of a few Australian PhD students who formerly would have applied to the US for postdocs, but now will only consider Canada or Europe.
