Okay, I've made the change (Tim let me know in email that he was happy with this change as well).  Let me know if there's any problem - I've never changed the editing permissions before, and it might have some unexpected side effects.  I'll also add a note to the front page.  If there's a lot of complaints, I'll change it back. --[[User:WikiSysop|WikiSysop]] 23:16, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

It would be cool to have a polymath logo to replace "set $wgLogo to the URL path...".

Spam and disabling anonymous editing

Spam seems to be quite a problem. Most (all?) of the spam is coming from anonymous accounts. What would other people think about changing the wiki settings so only people logged in can make edits? On many wikis this greatly reduces (but does not necessarily entirely eliminate) spam. If I get a couple of affirmative responses from active editors, I'll make the change. --WikiSysop 11:13, 24 June 2009 (UTC) (Michael Nielsen)

I would be in favour of requiring log in. I have deleted spam entries and restored entries overwritten by spam more or less daily. (Klas Markström)

Klas - Thanks for the reply. If one or two more people are in agreement, and no-one disagrees, then I'll make the change.--WikiSysop 16:49, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
